My husband and I just returned home from a 7 night stay in Steve's house. We've done a lot of VRBOs and this was our first with a garage. Man, that was nice!!! House was clean. Grill was fabulous, we cooked almost every night. Beds were super comfy. Steve gave superb directions to the house and extremely detailed instructions for the house amenities. Loved the pictures of the door lock and grill valve😍 We made friends with the neighborhood squirrel... He loves almonds. Suggestions would be dish towels for the kitchen and some baking sheets. The neighborhood is pretty quiet except for the neighbors dog....big dog... likes to bark... A Lot! Would I stay in this house again? Absolutely!!! Great place to unwind after a full day of sightseeing.
We rented this place for our annual girl's weekend in Flag. We have stayed lots of different places in Country Club and Kachina Village. The kitchen is in need of an update for sure, and some other basic things - more wine glasses, there were only two glass ones and a couple plastic ones. There was a definite odor when you walked in the place, we should have been tipped off to the problem because there were several candles lite upon our arrival. They need to clean air ducts and investigate the source of the smell, it was not good. The positives were very comfortable beds, nice deck and plenty of seating in the living area. Some suggestions: There's should be at least 6 dining chairs around the table, especially for a house that sleeps as many as it does, also I would definitely rip up the carpet in the downstairs and put in wood or the new luxury vinyl floors, the carpet is tired and didn't look/feel very clean.
We booked the house several months out and was impressed with the ease of the process and the professionalism and responsiveness of the owner. Upon arrival, we entered the code into the door and entered our home for the next week. Our family of 4 stayed with another family of 3, and it turned out to be the perfect size for us. We visited during the summertime and imagine this would be a gorgeous location on top of the hill during the winter. Highlights: General location: While South of downtown Flagstaff, we enjoyed being a little bit away from the action of the city. We took day-trips to Sedona, Grand Canyon, Bearizona and enjoyed the central location. Deck is awesome. Large gas grill for grilling out. They left a Cintronella candle to ward off any mosquitoes which was very nice. Large living area with lots of seating for game playing and adults to chat. Bedding was super comfortable and the adjustable beds were fun and functional. Responsive owner: We had a minor toilet issue and received a quick response from ownership. Appreciated his professionalism every step of the way. Needed a little work: Not a lot of glassware or plates....was tough to come up with plates and cups without constantly washing. My tip would be to buy some Solo cups and paper/plastic plates before you go. While there was a dishwasher on site, only 1 dishwashing pod was there. Not the property's fault, but cellular service is awful at the house. Luckily, Wifi is offered with clear instructions provided. There is only a gas station/Subway at the off-ramp. Unless you want to pay $9 for a stick of butter, I'd recommend driving up to Flagstaff for a Target/Sprouts run! Overall, I would recommend this house and location. We had a great time with no issues at all and appreciated the ease of working with this owner.
Who stayed - Mother /Daughter weekend with my daughter and my friend and her two daughters and of course myself in July, 2 nights Things I loved: Beds were all REALLY comfortable TV's - not that we used it much but was nice to watch a movie Beautiful wooded area behind home and there was a walking trail not far from the house Great Decks - enjoyed coffee each morning and a drink each night. Close to downtown Flagstaff Plenty of blankets/pillows Why I wouldn't return: NO AC - this turned out to be an issue when a neighbor and a dog was really loud intermittently through the night and had to close the windows @12am and it's really stuffy with out the open windows or AC (yes, we did have the fans going). We were coming from Phoenix to escape the heat/stuffy feeling is what we were trying to escape. We were not leaving 3 teenage girls downstairs bedroom with the windows open and a drunk neighbor being loud - so all 5 of us ended up sleeping upstairs with windows closed. First night with the windows open upstairs was comfortable but the girls were stuffy in the downstairs bedroom. Things that were a slight inconvenience but not the determining factor to not return: No ice maker or filtered water (if this matters) - it does make it nice to have. Fridge froze some of our food so, I think it is on it's way out... We did have a nice spider friend that visited on the first night above the bed (2 other bugs were dead) this made for a funny story but with 3 teenage girls -it caused a little drama. Thank you for opening your home and the positives I have mentioned, it just wasn't a fit for myself.
Thanks for listing all the positives as well as what went wrong. Unfortunately, it seems you were there on a rare night when the neighbors/dog were making noise...this is unusual if you look at the other reviews. It's also rare that AC is even needed in Flagstaff which is why most cabins don't even have it. Yes, there is usually a few nights a year you wish you had it (like the night you were there) but overall it's not needed. I'm sorry you had two rare events collide at the same time. *Please note* This is a good cautionary tale for future renters....if you think you need a certain amenity like AC, please make sure it has it before you book. My listing info is all correct and current, and the photos are "what you see is what you get." While I'm sad this didn't work out as well as it could have, part of the issue is selecting the right property for your needs upfront. It's not really fair to get penalized for not having a feature I didn't advertise. Yes, there is no ice maker, but ice trays are provided. As for the tap water, it's MUCH better than the Phoenix water and I always look forward to it after being in the valley. Thanks for the review, it helps me to keep improving!
Second summer that I have stayed here, and it was great both times. This last time we stayed for six nights, and had a blast. The cabin is large and comfortable (we had 3 adults and 4 kids), and the balcony is as pretty and relaxing as it looks in the picture. The kids (ages six to 11) loved the air hockey/ping pong table. The beds are very comfortable (upstairs beds are adjustable). The instructions left are very clear regarding how to use the televisions, Wi-Fi, grill, etc. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, and the washer and dryer are good quality. The grill is also very easy to use, because it has a gas line, so no dealing with charcoal or propane tanks. The location is great, as it is very pretty, but also very close to Flagstaff destinations. We hung out at Thorpe Park near downtown Flagstaff, hiked at Buffalo Park, went horse-back riding near Mormon Lake (about 1/2 hour away), and spent a day at Bear Paw at the Wyndam Resort (great for the kids, and very inexpensive.) The cabin was a great hub for day trips, but also nice to stay in for relaxing, lazy days. Steve was great about providing all the info we needed well in advance of our stay. We didn't need to contact him for anything during our stay, but given his quick responses prior to the trip, I'd say he has good customer service. I'd definitely recommend this cabin for a relaxing, laid back vacation.
This home is fully equipped for a lovely getaway. We truly enjoyed the peaceful neighborhood, the serene patios and comfortable living spaces. The owner was very responsive and quick to our requests. My only suggestion would be for additional chairs at the dining table. With our larger family, 4 chairs were not enough. Thank you for the great weekend
We had a wonderful time at Steve's cabin. It was well equipped and very comfortable. We certainly felt like we were at home. As an added bonus, we had a lot of snow, which our kids in particular loved as we are from Australia, and that was one of the main reasons we went to Flagstaff. Steve was easily the most responsive host we have had using vacation rental places (and we have used a lot of them). He was very helpful and understanding when we got snowed in overnight and couldn't leave on the day expected and ensured it was organised for us to stay the extra day. The cabin was very peaceful and quiet and a perfect place to relax after whatever activities were going on during the day. I would definitely recommend it and would go back if I ever find myself near Flagstaff again.
This place had many more negatives than positives. Rooms were large, TV's were large, deck and hammock were nice. Kitchen furnishings were inadequate pot holder and oven mitt were nasty. Went to Walmart to get a new one. Oven was nasty dirty, no mixer, dinning table had only 4 chairs for family of 7, a few updates had been made but basically the whole place needs updating. For instance the shelf paper in the kitchen cabinets look like it was from the 70's. Would not recommend this property to anyone.
Sorry your experience wasn't up to par. There is no excuse for the dirty oven that my cleaning crew must have missed. I wish I had been notified of the issue so we could have taken care of it right away. As for the dining table, yes, there are 4 chairs standard, but there are also 6 more chairs on the deck, so 10 total to use as you see fit. Yes, this is a cabin, built in 1984....and it looks just like the photos. If you wanted a fully updated cabin with granite countertops etc, a quick glance at the photos would have told you everything. It does have some of the best beds anywhere, great TVs, fantastic deck (redone in 2011) and a heated, snow melting driveway, superfast Wifi and a brand new dishwasher...so it's not like it's devoid of modern improvements. My listing is extremely accurate. I'm not sure what to tell people that expect a full remodel to be done between the time it was booked and the time they arrive. Yes, I would love to do a full remodel, and I will at some point, but it's still a great cabin as long as your expectations are in line with the ad & pictures. If you don't like the photos, please pick another cabin :) Thanks for the review!
Very nice large cabin in Flagstaff. Was perfect for our party of 7. Bedding very comfortable. Bathrooms were convenient and clean. Kitchen had necessary appliances, however the dishwasher needed replacement which the owner indicated was imminent. Great location and beautiful environment. Nice little welcome surprise and owner ready to accommodate when possible. Overall we were very pleased with the experience and wished we could have stayed in Flagstaff longer.
Had a wonderful weekend with family in this large cozy cabin. Plenty of room for everyone! It was a little chilly so didnt get to enjoy the patio as much as I had hoped. So much thought was put into this rental, the great pictures around cabin, the wine, and the instructions for tv and for everything else throughout. Very happy with our choice and hope to be back one day. Thank you Steve!
The cabin was awesome. My family felt right at home. The cabin was clean. The beds are very comfortable & can be adjusted how ever you like. Our 3 year old loved collecting pine cones out of the yard. The fireplace warms up the living room very well. I will be coming back once the snow falls and will be recommending the cabin to family and friends. The owner is just a call away if needed
We spent 75% of our time on the great deck. So beautiful and peaceful and the smell of pine was wonderful. The bathrooms were clean, the beds really comfy. I know need to go get a 55" TV at home now! Mine looks so small. I really recommend this house. It is close to Flagstaff and only an hour from the Grand Canyon.
Steve was available for any questions at any time which was so nice! Very reassuring when your traveling to be able to text the owner! The cabin was just what we needed for our getaway :) The hammock on the deck was a great place to nap! It was also wonderful to have all the techie stuff that brings the comforts of home like a large TV and DVD with Wifi ect in a warm cabin in the woods. :) Thank you Steve, we cant wait to visit in the future.
We arrived for 5 nights with our friends from England and were anxious to get things going in northern AZ. The property was cool, but we discovered there a few things that needed attention: hall light was burned out, grill and stove needed cleaning, the dryer was not functioning, and the advertised space heater was absent. I called Steve to let him know as soon as I could and he was sincerely apologetic as we talked through the list. In fact, it sounded like his post-guest cleaner was totally not keeping up their end of the deal and left the place in poor condition. Despite the following day being a Sat, Steve drove up from Phoenix to personally deal with the issues; we were super pleased when he arrived with a dryer repairman, he cleaned the grill and stove, changed the bulb, and even bought a replacement heater. I will say our stay got off to a rocky start, but Steve was very professional and handled our concerns very quickly and got us right back on track! Turned out to be an awesome time. Thanks and you'll have a blast here!
Thank you for the honest review! It seems every few years one guest will be unlucky enough to have lots of things go wrong, even though the previous 50 guests had no problems at all. What are the odds the light burns out, the dryer breaks, and the cleaners do a sub-par cleaning all at the same time? Well, as in any business, things can go wrong, but it's how you handle the issue that counts. I only wish I would have been alerted of the issues earlier so I could have fixed them even faster, but I'm really happy it all turned out great!
A wonderful place for escaping the city and enjoying the scenic views! Had a great time with friends and felt right at home at this lovely cabin. Steve was a pleasure to work with, and made sure to pay attention to the little details, which were much appreciated. Highly recommend making the trip!
Thanks for your review Cerina! So glad you had a great time. I also appreciate you for noticing the little details as I'm always trying to make the cabin a little bit better every time I visit myself. Comments like this make it all worthwhile. Hope you can visit again!
This was a last min trip, but one of our favorites by far. The cabin was beautiful and more than met our needs. It will be a return vacation for sire
I'm so glad you all had a great time. I know from our text messages that your kids had a lot of fun in the snow and especially liked the North Pole Experience. I have only heard great things about that from all the parents that have taken their kids, and I'm glad it was the same for you. You are welcome back anytime, but definitely plan ahead - especially if you want to get weekend dates next time, as they go fast :)
The Cabin couldn't have been more perfect for our family vacation to Arizona. Even though we did a lot of driving for sightseeing and hiking, it was very nice to come back to the cabin each night. It was very clean, well maintained, quiet neighborhood, comfortable beds, GREAT deck, GREAT TV, and an incredible gas grill. Steve was great to work with, even contacting me after we arrived to ask if we needed anything, which I really appreciated. I especially liked having two sitting areas down stairs. This cabin not only sleeps 8, but there is plenty of room in the living areas for everyone to sit and relax and not feel cramped for space. I just can say enough about how pleased everyone was with such a great place to stay while vacationing in AZ. Thanks so much Steve!
Thank you so much for the glowing review! I'm really happy you had a great time at the Cabin itself and it was very cool to hear how blown away you were about the Grand Canyon...it is such a treat that everyone should see at least once! That's what I love about the cabin is that it's really at the epicenter of so many great natural wonders in Norther Arizona. Reviews like this are what makes it worth all the time and expense of keeping the Cabin in top notch shape.
If you are looking for an old feel with all the modern amenities then this is the place for you. The location is perfectly located just south of Flagstaff and just off of 89A. The beds are some of the best I have ever sleep on and the free bottle of wine was a nice extra. Thanks for a great time.
We stayed for 3 nights. Cabin amenities were everything as described in owner description, and had plenty of room for a family of 5. Steve(owner) immediately and appropriately handled a concern that we had contacted him with after arriving to the property. Overall, we had a very relaxing time.
we were very reluctant to stay at a place that we had never been before. But the owner handle all the rental agreements, Payments and maps in just a few minutes. So off we went. We got their and were astounded by the detail he had taken to make it an incredible stay. Beds were the best, TV's were in top shape, but the view off the canyon below was the best. The day we too the train to the grand canyon and made it back in time to BBQ stake Will stay again for sure!!
Our family had a wonderful time at this spacious relaxing home. The home was comfortable for our family and had everything we needed to enjoy time together. We really appreciated the 55" TV with 3D especially the kids. The yard was very nice for our grandchildren to play in the snow and build a snowman. We were especially surprised to have discs in the garage for the kids to use for sliding that was great fun for them. We felt the rates were reasonable for the wonderful space and we will consider putting in a reservation again in the future.
My family & I stayed Jan 14th-17th 2012. The home is very comfortable. We felt like it was our home away from home. It has everything you need, just pack your clothes. Kitchen: stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils and spices. Theres a Bashe's grocery store not to far from the house where we purchased enough to get us through out stay. We didn't eat out once. There is a washer/dryer down the hall from the kitchen which is real nice since our kids used up there clothes playing outside in the snow all 3 days we were there. Living Room: Plenty of seating. Large flat screen tv is nice, but can be a little tricky to figure out a first. Fireplace we used once. It didnt really heat up the living room much though. Theres a closet that has games in it and there are books and magezines to read. Bedrooms: Each of our kids (2) had there own room. All but one of the bedrooms has a tv (the downstairs does not) Reno had to program the upstairs bedrooms to get the tv channels to work but that only took about ten minutes each. The upstairs does not heat up as well as downstairs so the rooms were chilly but there is plenty of comforters that kept us warm. The beds upstairs are nice King vibrating mattresses that have a remote control that inclines the head and feet . I like the the incline for reading and watching tv in bed. I didn't care for the vibrating bed so we just left that off and the foam mattress was not to either of our liking. We had a hard time sleeping on this kind of mattress but that's just us. Bathrooms: Everything was clean and ran fine. No problems with the bathroom. I would suggest bringing your own shampoo/conditioner and of course toothpast/brush as these are not supplied. Outside: There is a front and back patio and the master bedroom has a balcony with table & chairs. The back patio has a nice BBQ grill that we used once and worked great. This was a vacation to remember. We all had such a great time here. The first two days, there wasn't much snow and what was there was hard and frozen but the kids still had a great time playing in it, sledding. The 3rd morning it snowed! The kids woke up, dressed and went out to the yard to play in the fresh, soft snow! It was great. A perfect way to end our trip. Thanks Steve for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home & for the complimentary bottle of wine! I would highly recomend this cabin for anyone. Sincerely, Beth, Reno & kids
So glad our great guests had another 5 star experience! Thanks so much for staying! A couple of things I wanted to point out to those reading this. Yes, the upstairs does tend to run a bit cooler than downstairs in the winter, but you are welcome to turn the heat up as much as needed. Additionally, I have since purchased electric blankets for the upstairs bedrooms which work great! I have also purchased a portable room heater that can be used in any room just in case :) I do realize some people are not used to the memory foam mattresses. That is why I intentionally made sure to have two traditional (one upstairs and one downstairs) spring mattresses so hopefully everyone will have a perfect bed for themselves.
We were looking for a cabin in AZ we could start a yearly trip to the snow. This is definitely the place. Cabin is on a cull de sac, away from the highway, and backs up to the pines. Great location and views. Immaculate inside and all you need for a vacation without the need to load-up the car. Steve was easy to work with and accommodating. Great for family or couples. We'll be back.......
Thanks for staying at the Flagstaff Rental Cabin Dave! I'm glad you enjoyed the stay and I will order more snow for you next time! Always a pleasure dealing with great guests who treat the cabin like it was their own.
Everything was just as advertised, the cabin was well stocked and very roomy and well maintained. The seperate bedroom and bath downstairs is really great for families or two couples vacationing together as it affords everyone with plenty of privacy. We had a group of 8 altogether and we never felt crowded at all. The appliances are modern (better than what we have at home) and the fridge has an icemaker and is large enough for all of your things. The location is very quiet and peacefull (no highway noise at all) and the views are very nice. We had a great time with no issues and Steve refunded our deposit the next day. Although the cabin might be a bit too large for one couple it is great if you have kids or have two or more couples wanting a quick and easy getaway from the valley. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning sometime this summer to escape the valley heat.
